About Loopy Ceramics

Ceramic artist Louise Thorn

I was born in Cornwall and bred a Cornish lass. I started Loopy Ceramics in 1996 after completing a degree in Animation. I loved creating the 3D characters the most and after a stint of work experience at Spitting image, in London, I returned home and started to create ceramic sculptures inspired by all the inhabitants that live in the salty wilds of my homeland.

In 2001 I applied for a designer maker job at the Eden Project. I have now been at Eden for 19 years working on many different projects from small scale temporary installations to big permanent structures with a range of budgets and each one increases my skill base.

My ceramics took a backseat for a while after my daughter Lola was born in 2008, but now that Lola is older I feel able to work on my ceramics alongside my Eden work. My work is very colourful and looks at the world through different eyes. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy creating them.

Cheers an gone Lou X
